From cherished antiques to contemporary furniture and commercial seating, we combine experience, quality materials, and an eye for detail to create pieces that feel right for their next chapter.
A Personal Approach to Every Piece
Located on 15th Avenue in Brooklyn, Skippy Upholstery is built on decades of hands-on experience and a genuine appreciation for the craft.
Led by owner Igor Skipalskiy, our workshop works with furniture of all styles and ages, from older, high-quality pieces worth preserving to newer designs ready for a fresh look.
We believe upholstery is about more than replacing fabric. It's about understanding the character of a piece, finding the right materials, and making it work beautifully for the people who use it.Whether restoring a family heirloom, updating a favorite sofa, or creating custom seating, we approach every project with care and attention to detail.
The Person Behind the Craft
I'm Igor Skipalskiy, owner of Skippy Upholstery. With decades of experience in the upholstery trade, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of furniture, materials, and custom projects.
What I enjoy most about this work is helping people bring their ideas to life. I love working with fabrics and colors, finding the right solution for a piece, and helping clients create furniture that reflects their home, their personality, and the way they live.
Antique furniture restoration is a particular specialty of mine, but I also enjoy the challenge of reimagining newer pieces, making custom alterations, and finding solutions for furniture that needs a little extra attention.
For me, the reward is seeing a piece renewed and knowing it can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
